Even though consumer electronics often seems like a male-dominated world, half of the people who shop at MediaMarktSaturn are women. As we want to offer them the best shopping experience, it is important that we incorporate female perspectives into all our business areas. That's why it's an entrepreneurial imperative for us to encourage women and give them a voice in our company.

We can only become the Experience Champion and offer our employees the best Employee Experience if everyone in our company is heard. This also includes the targeted promotion of women – at all levels of management and in our stores.

Performance & Feedback Dialogues 

By conducting regular performance and feedback dialogues, we ensure that personal and professional goals of our employees match with our organizational goals. As their development is key for us, these performance & feedback dialogues are a very important tool to provide them with personal and targeted feedback and define their individual development plan – together with their leader. This way, we ensure to stay on track while fostering an appreciative and open (feedback) culture. This gives our female employees the opportunity, to reflect on their achievements and receive neutral feedback from their leaders.

The best learning journey for every employee

We’re in for the long haul with our employees and strive to give them the best chances to advance – professionally as well as personally. This also includes trainings to support our female employees to grow and reach their goals. So, it’s key for us to provide them with the best possible learning journeys that match their needs exactly. And here are some examples of what we offer:

The International Leadership Program 

Our 9-month international leadership development program aims to develop leaders internationally and strengthen their skills in the areas of strategy communication, stakeholder management, resilience, and personal development through coaching. In this way, we promote and support the development of managers and the possibility of international transfers or promotions to top management. As we have many female talents and make sure to support them in advancing their careers, we have managed to achieve a very high female share in our International Leadership Program.

Initiative Women into Leadership (IWiL) 

We are part of the non-profit organization “Initiative Women into Leadership”. Why? Because we have a goal: Equal representation of female talent at all levels in the organization – including top level. IWiL attracts top personalities as members who – as personal mentors – accompany highly qualified and successful women on their way to the top as part of a mentoring program. At MediaMarktSaturn, we’re supporting IWiL with mentors while giving our female employees the chance to find high-profile mentors.

Flexible Working Hours 

We know that life is not predictable, especially if you have care responsibilities – and most of these are still often taken over by women. So, we offer our employees as much flexibility as we can to make sure they can succeed professionally as well as personally with our trust-based and flexible working hours*.

Golden Rules for Recruiting & Development 

We all have biases. So, it’s even more important to have structures and processes in place to confront and eradicate them. This is why we introduces our “Golden Rules” for recruiting and development to ensure that any longlist consists of 50% female candidates. This way we help all talents to be equally seen and promoted.
