But getting started is not easy, especially for beginners. Where do I get my Bitcoins? Which online trading platform is legitimate? How does account opening and authentication work? Many questions and uncertainties. In cooperation with Kurant, MediaMarktSaturn is once again offering a customer-oriented service that makes it easier to enter the digital world. As part of a six-month pilot project, Saturn customers can exchange their cash for the two popular cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum at three stores in Cologne, Frankfurt a.M. and Dortmund. The locations were chosen based on the affinity for cryptocurrencies in the respective regions after extensive research.

The quick way to your own Bitcoin

The process is simple: after a one-time initial registration at www.kurant-btm.de/registerde, customers download a wallet app to their smartphones. The next step is to select the amount at an ATM. The app then generates a QR code - the address of the wallet. The code is scanned at the ATM, the desired amount is deposited in cash and the corresponding amount of Bitcoins is credited to the digital wallet.

The cooperation partner is Kurant, the European market leader for Bitcoin vending machines. In cooperation with Sutor Bank, Kurant ensures that transactions at the machines are legally compliant and can provide a reliable support team if needed. SutorBank is the official provider of the machines, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Successful launch in Austria

MediaMarktSaturn has already been successfully operating Bitcoin vending machines in MediaMarkt stores in Austria in cooperation with Kurant since 2019. What started as a pilot project in Vienna was expanded in April of this year. There are now Bitcoin ATMs at twelve MediaMarkt stores in Austria. Based on these findings from Austria and the experience gained from the ongoing pilot project in Germany, MediaMarktSaturn will continuously evaluate the expansion of its activities in this service segment.
