Media-Saturn secures exclusive distribution rights for Google’s Chromecast in stationary retail

Ingolstadt, 19.03.2014: On March 19, 2014, Google’s Chromecast, a dongle that allows a convenient streaming of video and music content from the Internet via WLAN to HD-ready TVs, has hit the German market. Chromecast sells for € 35 and is available nationwide at Media Markt and Saturn and in stationary retail exclusively at these two specialized retail chains.

The Media-Saturn Group announced to strategically continue to develop its procurement function in the future through further exclusive distribution partnerships for innovative products like in this case with Google.

Chromecast, which is plugged into a television’s HDMI port, can be controlled via smartphone, tablet or laptop computer. This way, customers can gain access to content from YouTube, Google Play Movie and Google Play Music also on televisions that are not Internet-ready. Local apps from the launch partner WATCHEVER and within a short time maxdome will be provided also.

Chromecast can be operated with devices using Android, iOS, OS X or Windows. In addition, it offers the possibility to stream the web browser “Chrome” via Mac and Windows and Chromebooks via WLAN to the TV set.
