Media Markt and Saturn’s new mobile data flat rate: Media-Saturn provides customers with cheap mobile data tariffs

Ingolstadt, 07.10.2014: Following hot on the heels of the recently introduced smartphone tariffs, Media Markt and Saturn are now launching their own mobile data tariffs, which provide customers with cheap and uncomplicated access to the Internet. As from 7 October 2014, Germany's leading consumer electronics retailers will be offering Media Markt’s basic mobile data tariff and Saturn’s mobile data tariff for a monthly flat rate of 9.99 euros, thus expanding their mobile offerings. The new LTE mobile data flat rate includes a data volume of 1 GB and transfers data at rate of up to 7.2 Mbit/s (up to 14.4. Mbit/s as from 01.12.). Customers can at any time use variable tariff components to increase the data volume and double the rate at which data is transferred.

Media-Saturn is making the new tariff available in cooperation with the network provider Telefónica Germany. "With Telefónica as a strong cooperation partner, we can offer our customers excellent network coverage primarily using the fast LTE standard," says Wolfgang Kirsch, CEO of Media-Saturn Deutschland GmbH. "Following the successful launch of Media-Saturn's smartphone tariffs, providing our own mobile data tariffs is another step that the company is taking towards expanding the service sector as planned and establishing us as experts in this sector."

Surfing the Internet for 9.99 euros a month

The starter package for Media Markt's basic mobile data tariff and Saturn's mobile data tariff is available for one-time charge of 9.99 euros. Once the SIM card has been activated online, customers are "online" with LTE, UMTS, GPRS or EDGE, depending on local coverage, and without being tied to a contract. During the first month, customers can surf the Internet entirely free of charge; only after that will 9.99 euros be debited from their account each month. Cancellation of the service to the end of each month can easily be given at any time. And what’s more: Anyone purchasing a new 3G/4G-tablet at Media Markt or Saturn will receive the starter package free of charge.

If, on the other hand, a customer decides to enter into a 12-month contract for Media Markt's basic mobile data tariff or Saturn's mobile data tariff right away, they can look forward to two months of Internet access free of charge. To ensure a high level of flexibility and absolute cost control, Media-Saturn provides the option of adding extra data volume as needed in both mobile data tariffs; for example if the data volume has been exhausted before the end of the month. Each additional gigabyte costs only 4.99 euros. The optional 3GB mobile data upgrade for 19.99 euros a month allows data volume to be increased to 3 GB and the data transfer rate to 14.4 Mbit/s. This means that customers can easily adapt the mobile data tariffs to meet their individual needs.
